The Challenge Citizens First Bank, based in The Villages, Florida, was unhappy with a DVR system it had recently purchased. If a hard-drive failed on one of its units, “we had a serious problem,” said senior computer technician Mac Anderson. “It would crash and we had to send it back.” The inability to identify the amount of storage space available on a DVR at any given point in time was also a problem. Reluctant to settle for a system with these and other deficiencies, Citizens First decided to research its options.
The Solution A Web search introduced Anderson and his colleagues to March Networks technology and a thorough evaluation of a trial unit convinced them that March Networks DVRs were the way to go. With a Linux operating system embedded in flash memory, Anderson could simply replace a defective hard-drive and have the DVR back in operation in minutes. The bank was also impressed with the robust construction, reliability and increased storage capacity of the March Networks DVRs.
