The Challenge Wachovia Corporation is the third largest full-service retail brokerage firm in the United States. The bank wanted to standardize on a high performance DVR system to replace existing VCR-based surveillance and monitoring equipment at more than 3,500 retail banking centers, multiple ATMs and other locations. The DVR system it chose had to meet three main criteria: it had to come with quick and easy access to replacement parts, its operating system had to be extremely secure and reliable, and it had to be manufactured by a stable, proven company.
The Solution After evaluating eight competitive DVR systems – some in lab and live test environments – Wachovia determined that March Networks DVRs and software best met its requirements. The DVRs run on an embedded Linux operating system stripped of extraneous code to enhance security and reliability. They are currently used by several leading banks in the United States. In addition, Wachovia expects that the March Networks Enterprise Management Suite of software will deliver considerable operational benefits.
